‘Explained’ Season 1

During my time at Vox Media I worked as a Motion Designer on their first Netflix series “Explained.”

In my role as a Motion Designer I worked directly with the Producer of each episode to create a unique Visual World and for our topic in order to break down complex theories and topics into a more palatable form via Animation under the guidance of our amazing Art Director Rubab Shakir. I worked primarily on four episodes as Designer and Animator (Cryptocurrency, Exclamation, Astrology, and Political Correctness) while providing animation assistance on a few others.

This series was a fantastic creative exercise and I was given free license to experiment with Cel Animation, Motion, and Design. Care was taken to make sure every episode had a unique feel and it’s own visual language while staying respectful to the Vox branding.
